Privacy notice
What this website collects when you submit an annotation job, why, how long it is kept, and the rights you have over it.
What we collect
- Your email address — provided when you submit a job, used only to send you the private job link and a completion notice.
- Your input file — the FASTA sequences you upload, stored so the job can run and you can download the results.
- Minimal technical logs — standard web-server logs (including IP address) kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.
Why, and on what basis
We process this data solely to provide the service you request — running your annotation and returning the results — and to keep the service secure. The email address is stored with your explicit consent, given by the checkbox on the submission form. We do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies & tracking
This site sets only strictly necessary first-party cookies — a session cookie and a CSRF-protection cookie — needed for the forms to work securely. There are no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers; fonts and scripts are served from this server, so nothing you do here is shared with outside services. Because these cookies are essential, no cookie-consent banner is required.
How long we keep it
Your email address, your uploaded file and the produced results are permanently deleted 3 months after submission. After that, only anonymous job statistics — the eggNOG-mapper version, input type, sequence count, status and timings, with no email and no sequence data — are retained indefinitely to monitor and improve the service.
A submission that is never started expires after 24 hours and is marked as expired; it is then subject to the same 3-month deletion as every other job.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time, and you can withdraw consent — for example by asking us to delete a job before the 3-month window elapses.
